Harmony Services

Addresses concerns and issues that arise when a child or youth is exposed to violence/abuse. Providing individual and group counseling for young people and their caregivers.

Counselling for Children and Youth ages 3-18 years.

Building respectful relationships

The Harmony Program addresses concerns and issues that arise when a child or youth is exposed to violence/abuse. The intent is to promote healing and help children and youth learn to cope with the impact of their exposure to violence through direct interventions and support to their caregivers.

We believe children and youth need to have their feelings validated and recognized in order to deal with traumatic events in their lives before these feelings negatively impact their lives.

The counsellor will strive to help children and youth to:

  • Identify and express feelings in a healthy way
  • Understand that they are not responsible for the violence
  • Develop a safety plan and build on safety skills
  • Identify support networks
  • Increase self-awareness and empowerment
  • Recognize their strengths and increase their self-confidence and efficacy
  • Identify the cycle of violence, power and control in relationships
  • Explore myths about violence, and violence in the media
  • Improve school performance, problem solving and social skills
  • Increase their day-to-day functioning and coping skills
  • Address issues of bullying and being bullied
  • Develop strong conflict-resolution and assertiveness skills
  • Provide a non-judgmental and safe place for fun and play
  • Develop healthy personal and interpersonal boundaries.

The goal of the Harmony Program is to assist families and individuals in having healthy and respectful relationships by:
